Dodge County Environmental Services is happy to have Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity as a partner in our mission of reuse. Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity is a great partner with the Dodge County Renovation ReUse. We are able to donate items to their facility that will sell better in their location located at Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity ReStore at 3034 40th Ave NW in Rochester. They are able to donate to us for the items that are not acceptable to their facility. We appreciate the networking, advertising and ability to help more people find good reusable items for affordable costs while supporting the Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity cause. See Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity ReStore's acceptable and not acceptable list here. They will transport the items to their facility for resale. Proceeds from their sales go to help with affordable housing solutions for families in need in Dodge, Olmsted, Steele, Wabasha and Waseca Counties.
Furnishing Hope is a volunteer-based organization in Owatonna that accepts gently used, excellent-condition mattresses and box springs for free. These items are given directly to individuals and families in need who have been referred by social services. To donate, you must schedule an appointment by contacting Tom or Joe at 507-676-1324 or emailing info@furnishinghopeowatonna.org. Dodge County Renovation ReUse, located at 406 16th St NW in Kasson, just south of the Dodge County Transfer Station, is a community-driven facility focused on reducing landfill waste by giving building materials and household items a second life. Originally constructed in June 2023 with support from the 2022 Greater Minnesota Recycling and Composting Grant through the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the project began collecting materials in August 2023 and held its first sale in November. Since then, it has diverted over 58,400 pounds (29.2 tons) from landfills and waste-to-energy facilities. Thanks to a recent Statewide Sustainable Materials and Resource Management Grant, major improvements have been made, including insulation, sheeting, and HVAC. With construction nearly finished and staffing in place, we are now open with regular hours for sales and drop-offs. These upgrades allow us to operate year-round and better serve the community by offering affordable, reused materials. We are especially grateful to Marti Electric, Big Sky Builders, Preferred Heating and Cooling, Home Improvement Professionals, Knutson Plumbing, Affordable Portables, Duke Rental, Up-n-Running, Ponds and More, and CHS for their contributions.
